Year Five

Miss Horkan
Year 5

Welcome to Year 5!

This term, we will be heading back in time and studying all things Greek!  To help us explore the topic, we will be reading Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan and we will also be writing our own Greek myths.  We will be welcoming a special Greek visitor in October.

We will be taking swimming lessons at Heworth Leisure Centre. This will be lots of fun and a great opportunity to become excellent swimmers by the end of Year 5! Please remember to bring swimming kits every Friday. We will also be having PE lessons in school every Tuesday so please have your full school PE kit in class every week.

Homework will be sent out every Wednesday and due in on the following Monday.

All children should read their reading book every night at home. In year 5, we will be continuing to take books home from the school library to help us develop our love for reading. Please continue to ask your child questions about what they are reading to help with their understanding.

If you have any questions at all, do not hesitate to contact the school office and make an appointment.

Keep checking the website to see what we get up to this year!
