Welcome to Year Three

Welcome to Mrs Clark’s class,

We will be working very hard and learning lots of new things, now we’re in the Key Stage 2.

In English we will be trying to become Rapid Readers by developing our reading skills to use both in school and for enjoyment. We will be learning more about grammar and punctuation in order to make us Wonderful Writers.

In Maths, we will be learning our 3, 4 and 8 times tables as well as becoming more efficient at our 2, 5, and 10s. We will begin to use written columnar methods for Calculations. Improve our understanding of shape and space and learn about angles. We will improve our data handling skills, how to record information and how to interpret graphs.

In Science we will be exploring Rocks and Soils, Animals including healthy diets and skeletons, light, forces- including magnets and plants and developing our scientific skills of observing, explaining, communicating and classifying.

In History we will be learning about the Stone Age and the Romans and the changes in Britain. We will be learning to locate the countries of the United Kingdom, Italy and the journey the Romans would have taken to get to Britain.

We will be learning to play the Recorder with Mr Barker.

Mrs Douglas will be teaching us to speak Spanish. Hola!

Homework will be given every Friday – and is to be returned on the following Wednesday.

We will have PE lessons on Monday and Tuesday, please ensure children have their PE kits in school and have their names on all uniforms and PE kits.
