Mrs Dixon

Hello and welcome to the Reception class at St Oswald’s Catholic Primary School. We hope you all had a lovely summer and that you are all looking forward to the start of the school year.

We provide fun, hands-on activities within a stimulating learning environment which will promote your child’s learning. Your child will be welcomed and cared for by a hardworking and dedicated team in a safe, warm and friendly place. They will belong in a place of stability, allowing them to feel comfortable, happy and blossom.

From September – December our topics will be ‘Marvellous Me’ and ‘Transport’ and our Religious Education topics will be ‘Myself,’ ‘Welcome’ and ‘Birthdays’. As part of the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum, learning in Reception Class is tailored to the children’s individual interests and ideas. Therefore, we would welcome any information about your child’s latest favourite thing. This information helps us to plan activities that are enjoyable for your child, thus motivating children to learn and making their learning more personal.

Here in Reception we are like inquisitive sponges where phonics, reading and writing will play a big part. We hope to have your support in this but rest assured that we are here also to support you and your family during this exciting and important stage in your child’s life. If you do have any questions, concerns or queries however big or small, please feel comfortable in the knowledge that I am here to help.

The children may bring water in a water bottle each day (Labelled with their name). Could we please remind you to make sure the PE bag and all clothing/shoes are clearly labelled with your child’s name. Our PE day is Thursday but PE bags can be left for the remainder of this half term.

For parents new to our school our website contains newsletters/ Don’t forget to check our class page regularly for updates and photographs of the activities we’ve enjoyed.
