NURSERY

Welcome

At St. Oswald’s, we recognise that nursery is a very important time in your child’s life, when they are preparing to enter school.  Our aim is to ensure they make this transition with confidence, independence and optimism. The children are encouraged to play, explore, actively learn and think critically. We provide learning and social opportunities in both our indoor and outdoor areas.  Your child will be given opportunities to learn and develop basic essential skills, such as problem-solving, self-help, conversation, listening, and self-confidence to deal with challenging situations as they may arise. Alongside this the children will be developing their skills and knowledge in literacy, mathematics, understanding of the world and expressive arts and design.

The children will have PE on both a Tuesday and Wednesday after October half term with specialised teachers. Please ensure that your child has a full PE kit in school and that both PE kits and uniform are named. There is no need to send drinks into school for during the day as we have a water fountain in the classroom which is always accessible.

Book Week in Nursery
