Every minute, 20 people are forced to flee war, persecution, natural
disaster or poverty. Often, they leave home with nothing, endure terrible
conditions on their journey and are denied the protection and support they need in their chosen place of refuge.
Pope Francis is asking people around the world to work together and walk 24,900 miles – the distance around the whole world.
As part of Refugee Week, I would love to invite you all to join us on Wednesday 20th June to take part in the Share the Journey walk that CAFOD has instigated as a response to Pope Francis’ message. We will meet at the main entrance of school at 3.30pm and take part in a short circular local walk, lasting no more than half an hour, starting and ending with a short prayer. The walk will be suitable for people of all ages and will take part on footpaths. All are welcome.
If you would like any more information, please do not hesitate to ask Miss Horkan (Year 5 teacher). It would be wonderful to have as many people take part as possible.
