QUOTE FROM POPE FRANCIS’ ENCYCLICAL ON THE ENVIRONMENT, LAUDATO SI
The entire material universe speaks of God’s love, his boundless affection for us. Soil, water, mountains: everything is, as it were, a caress of God.
Introduction
Firstly we would like to welcome you all back after the summer break. We hope you had a lovely holiday.
These newsletters will posted on our website each month to keep you up to date with events and information relating to school. (www.stoswaldsrcprimary.org)
Absences from School
If your child is going to be absent from school for any reason you must call the school office (4878641) to advise us. Please call between 8.15 and 9am.
Leave of absence during term time
As you may be aware, amendments to The Education (Pupil Registration) (England) Regulations 2006 make it clear that Head Teachers may not grant any leave of absence during term time unless there are exceptional circumstances and that Head Teachers should determine the number of days a child can be away from school if the leave is granted.
Should a leave of absence be taken without prior authorisation, Penalty Notice may be issued by the Local Authority.
School Uniform
Please ensure your child is wearing the correct uniform for school. This is black or grey skirts/trousers, red polo shirts, red cardigans/jumpers and sensible shoes. It is not acceptable for children to wear sandals with toe posts. Jewellery and earrings are not allowed for health and safety reasons.
If you wish to purchase uniform please see the office staff for an order form.
Contact Details
You will have received a copy of the contact details we hold for your child. Please ensure the details are correct. If any changes need to be made, please make them clearly on the form before signing it and returning it to school. However, please sign and return this form even if all the details are correct.
Appointments with staff members
We would like to make you aware of our appointment system which is in place. If you would like to speak to Mrs Musgrove or your child’s class teacher you must call into the office and make an appointment. We would appreciate your co-operation in this matter.
Free School Meals
If you think your child is entitled to free school meals then please contact the benefits section at the civic centre on 4333000, or approach the office for an application form.
All Key Stage 1 children are now entitled to receive a free school meal as part of a new Government incentive. If your child is in Key Stage 1, please complete a Means Tested Free School Meals application form. We receive funding for all children who are allocated free meals; this is used to benefit your children as it allows us to provide extra resources.
Dinner Money
The cost of a school meal is £2.00 per day, £10.00 per week. This must be paid prior to the meal being taken, preferably on a Monday morning for the week ahead. May we please remind parents that money must be sent in an envelope clearly marked with your child’s name, class and amount?
Breakfast Club
The cost of the breakfast club is £2.00 per day, per child. I am sure you will agree this is a very reasonable charge, therefore, we would appreciate the money being given to Miss Welsh on the morning your child attends the breakfast club.
Half Term
Our half term holiday is Monday 23rd October to Friday 27th October inclusive.
After School Clubs
A letter will be sent home shortly detailing the after school clubs we have available for this half term.
If your child is attending an after school club, please ensure they bring the correct clothing and a drink to school in the morning. All children need to be collected promptly when the club ends, if there are any changes to times or if the club is cancelled we will advise you as soon as possible.
The World’s Biggest Coffee Morning
On Friday 29th September we will be hosting a coffee morning in school to raise funds for MacMillan Cancer research. Please come along and support this worthy cause.
Photographer
The photographer will be in school on Monday 2nd October, further information to follow.
