St Oswald’s RC Primary School
QUOTE FROM POPE FRANCIS’ ENCYCLICAL ON THE ENVIRONMENT, LAUDATO SI
Access to safe drinkable water is a basic and universal human right, since it is essential to human survival.
We break up for the Summer Holidays on Friday 21st July at 3.15pm. We will return to school on Tuesday 5th September. Nursery will return to school on Monday 11th September.
A REMINDER OF OUR SCHOOL UNIFORM
All children Reception to Y6 need:-
- Red polo shirt,
- bright red jumper, sweat-shirt or cardigan,
- grey skirt, pinafore or black/grey trousers.
- A red striped or checked dress (summer).
- Footwear will be plain black flat shoes. Socks or tights must be worn.
- sandshoes without laces
- Plain black shorts, not cycling shorts, as these are dangerous on equipment
- white t-shirts
- Swimming costumes and towels will be needed in the juniors for swimming lessons.
Jewellery and Headwear
On health and safety grounds, we do not allow children to wear jewellery to school (except for a simple watch when they can tell the time).
We are proud of our smart uniform and the image that this presents within school and beyond the school community. The school’s expectations for hair styles are equally as high as they contribute to this positive image. Our school does not permit children to have haircuts that could serve as a distraction to other children. Hairstyles should be appropriate for school. Extreme hairstyles, including markings in hair, shaved heads, or hair colour are not permitted.
Nail varnish or gel/acrylic nails should not be worn for school.
Make up is not permitted in school.
FREE SCHOOL MEALS
As part of a Government initiative, every child in Reception and Key Stage One (Year 1 and Year 2) receives a free school meal. Meals for children in Key Stage 2 are charged at £2 per day / £10 for a full week.
A reminder – children moving into Year 3 in September will have to pay for their meals.
On the last day of term we ask that children remove their school shoes and leave them behind on their desk. These shoes will then have a second life after being donated to the Sals Shoes charity. We are also accepting donations of other shoes, flip-flops, sandals, trainers, winter boots and football boots, these can be dropped off anytime between now and the end of term. To find out more about this charity, please visit their website www.salsshoes.com. Thank you
