Dear Parents and Carers
We have reached the end of a busy and successful school year.
It seems a long time since I started my first year here at St Oswald’s in September but it has flown over and I’ve really
loved getting to know the children and families in this thriving community. Remember, my door is always open if you need
to discuss anything, no matter how trivial you think it may be.
We now all look forward to a well-deserved summer break. As ever, the school never really closes and we will have some
building and refurbishment work done over the holiday in preparation for the new school year. Our new car park is
beginning shortly and work actually started today on the new library and staff room. I hope that you will agree with me
that the new additions to the outdoors (Early Years outdoor learning area, outdoor classroom and the goal walls and cricket stumps) are fantastic!
Thank you for all your support this year. The children have been a credit to you. The compliance with black school shoes
and sensible haircuts has been very much appreciated and I look forward to seeing the children smartly turned out in the
new academic year.
Children return to school on Tuesday 6th September (Nursery return 12th September). During September, we will be starting
a daily Reading Club from 8:30 – 8:55am to encourage the children’s love of books and reading for pleasure. More details
will follow at the start of term.
Good luck to all our Year 6 children as they move to their secondary schools. Good luck to Miss Archibald, who leaves
our school tomorrow to take up a position at St Mary and St Thomas Aquinas (Stella), Blaydon, in September. I would also
like to welcome Mr Paul Simpson, our new Site Manager, who you may have seen around the yard and school this last week.
Have a good summer break!
See you all in September.
Mrs T A Musgrove
