Flu Vaccination

All primary school children will once again receive a flu vaccination this year, which is administered as a nasal spray. The permission forms and information about the vaccine will be sent home with your child shortly. Please ensure you read this carefully and send your signed permission into school. Without this your child cannot receive the vaccine.

Medication

Just to clarify, according to Gateshead Council’s legislation, we are only permitted to give children medication which has been prescribed by a doctor in relation to a current illness. It can also only be administered by school if it is to be taken 4 times per day. All medication must be handed in at the office, not given to the class teacher.

Attendance

We will be closely monitoring attendance this year as the Government has increased the persistent absence threshold.

Absences from School

If your child is going to absent from school during term time please ask for a Leave of Absence form from the office. Absences for holidays during term time will not be authorised unless there are exceptional circumstances.

I would like to remind you that if your child is going to be absent from school for any reason you must call the school office (4878641) to advise us. Please call between 8.30 and 9am.
